Motor Brakes :
ERD Fail safe brakes are fastened with the fixing screws.
With loosened screws and in current less condition the
air-gap is adjusted with the aid of feeler gauge to
the nominal size, according to the table. After a uniform
adjustment the screws are tightened and the brake is
ready for operation. The wear caused by the dynamic
braking results in an enlargement of the air gap. Only
regular checks and adjustments of air gap; guarantee
the functioning of the brake. Never should it be allowed
to have the air gap less than the minimum possible friction
thickness.
A hand release can be fitted to the
brake subsequently. Important for that is the mounting
bolt. A wrong adjustment can lead to the loss of the
braking effect; especially when the braking torque is
reduced or the magnet is excited by over voltage. Ex
factory, the braking torque is adjusted to the nominal
torque of brake specified. Twisting the adjustment ring
results in braking changes accordingly.
